The company incorporates data from the majority of entities authorized to collect raw traffic information in France. In December 2006, Mediamobile received ISO 9001 certification for "Collection, Processing and Distribution of road traffic information in real time" and the company successfully passed its first audit tracking in December 2007. These 2 events led to major projects being launched in June 2007 and January 2008. The first was to mobilize a fleet of vehicles to cover the areas A13, A12, N186 and N118 in collecting geo-localized positions of vehicles and analyzing data in real time. The second allowed Mediamobile to assess the quality of their in-situ service of dynamic route calculation.
Always striving to improve the quality of its services and increase its coverage, Mediamobile is looking into two complementary technologies: the technology of probe vehicles (FCD) and mobile terminal tracers (FMD). The Floating Car Data (FCD) allows the collection of GPS data from probe vehicles. The Floating Mobile Data (FMD) is the interpretation of the direction and speed of movement of the mobile phones within the operator network. These sources allow Mediamobile to produce information on until now uncovered areas of the network as well as refine its raw data on the existing network, ensuring the continuity of data provision all over the territory.
Another strong point for Mediamobile is the collection of all traffic data available from various sources:
With real time tracking of vehicle fleets, Mediamobile develops its own system of data generation. The fleets report back their GPS position at regular time intervals to a data processing center that uses this information to expand the network of known axes shown in data traffic and also refine the data gathered by other sources.
